Is the suppression of public opinion during times of crisis ever justified?

NO; Public opinion is what allows for a free society to grow and flourish ,It would be like denying a plant; food , water, and sunlight ,it would be as evil as chaining up your dog , or any other animal It would be suppression of your own thought process, you would actually wither and die from it.
