TV flashes purple tint

You're losing the yellow component of your color picture. There are many different possible causes based on whether or not your TV's analog or digital. If it's digital, I'd suggest you first try re-seating all your video wiring connections. That's the most common problem in that one of the RGB cables has come loose from the box to the TV at either end.
