How do you comfort someone who is dying?

I am sorry you are going through this. There isn't much you can say, but be sure you let them know how much you care for them. Perhaps going over old memories of the fun you had together (silly things) may bring laughter instead of tears. Dying a lonely road all of us must make one day.

If you know this person's faith life, now is the time to elicit questions and give reassurance . I f they believe in Heaven , or a hereafter , reinforce their beliefs. If they are having douubts, reassure them . Everyone I have watched die [ and there have been hundreds over the years ] has at least a momentary panic near the end, even if only a glint of fear in their eyes. Make them look you in the eye and let them see the truth of your Words , and tell them you KNOW you will see them again. When their physical strenght and their faith wavers , give them all you can. Death is not pretty , and you don't need a good laugh , just the strenghth and faith to face the inevitable.
