Can you get pregnant by putting semen inside yourself?

Semen, which contains sperm, does not care who puts it into the vagina. Sperm only care about having the right pH and enough bodily fluid to swim in and get to the egg. However--sperm don't stay alive just waiting for someone to help them to the vagina--instead, they die.
