Is Bill belichick the best coach in the NFL?

Based on his win/loss record and playoff achievements since he took over in New England, Bill Belichick is indeed the best coach in the NFL.

Under Bill Belichick's leadership, the Patriots have achieved the following:

• 3 Super Bowl titles in 4 Super Bowl Appearances
• 4 AFC Championship titles
• Led the team to the only perfect regular season, going 16-0 in 2007
• 102-42 regular season record, a .708 winning percentage, best in the league
• 14-4 playoff record, a .824 winning percentage, best in the league
• holds the current record 19 game winning streak, 2006-2007
• a then record 18 game winning streak, 2003-2004
• Most Points scored, single season - 2007 - 589 points
• Belichick was named coach of the year in 2003
• 8 playoff appearances in 9 years of coaching

No other coach in the league has managed to lead their team to multiple Super Bowl titles since Belichick took over the Patriots, and no other coach has lead their respective team to back to back championships since Dallas did it in the early 1990's.

The only other coach to come close the Bleichicks resume in terms of win/loss record was Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have a record of 101-43, a .701 winning percentage, over the same period, losing one more game than the Patriots in regular season play. The major difference is seen in the playoffs, where the Colts are 7-7, with one Super Bowl Championship. Compared to the Patriots 14-3 record and 3 Super Bowl titles, the Colts fall short.
