Trust d added: A good friendship is similar to a good marraige, it consists of shared giving and taking, trust, love, concern and companionship.

Giving and taking is a shared activity. One or the other should not give or take more than the other, this helps to build trust and good will towards each other.

Trust is important for any relationship in that without it one or the other will feel the hurt of a Word not kept or a wrong done to them and when they feel this hurt they need to be able to go to the other person and discuss it objectively so that an undstanding can be reached. If an understanding cannot be reached the relationship will not survive and grow stronger. Love is a factor that comes with the concern and caring for another, when you love someone you share the concern for each others welfare. Caring is about knowing when you are needed by a friend and when your are not needed. Companionship cements the relationship by helping to create memories of time spent together. This is important because good memories and bad memories are what a person relies on to make choices for the continuation of a relationship.
