Actually, Henry VIII annulled his marriages - this is what led to the break of the English monarchy with the Catholic Church (the Pope would not approve his "annulments" ). The English then created the Church of England, of which the reigning monarch is the head. It is one of the tenets of the church of England that a divorced man or woman cannot be head of the Church of England. I'm sure they have thought of a way to get around this, but it is a problem.
