What are nephorons?

Nephrons are the functional units of the kidney responsible for filtering blood and producing urine. Each kidney contains approximately one million nephrons, which consist of a renal corpuscle and a renal tubule. They regulate the body's fluid and electrolyte balance, remove waste, and help maintain acid-base homeostasis. Through processes like filtration, reabsorption, and secretion, nephrons play a crucial role in maintaining overall kidney function and health.
