What war in Asia followed the end of World War 2?

The war in Asia that followed the end of World War II (1945) was the First Indochina War (1946–1954).

It began when Vietnamese nationalists (Viet Minh, led by Ho Chi Minh) fought against French colonial forces to gain independence from French Indochina.

This conflict eventually set the stage for the Vietnam War (1955–1975) after the French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu in 1954.
