Who does not go with the president when he gives his state of the union address?

Traditionally, the Vice President and the Speaker of the House do not attend the State of the Union Address together with the president. This is a security measure known as the "continuity of government," ensuring that if a catastrophic event were to occur, there would still be leaders in place to take over.
