Can a 20-year-old male date a 17-year-old female without the consent of her parents in the state of New York?

Under New York age of majority laws the young lady is considered a minor and the male is an adult. The parents of the minor female would have legal options available for use, if they had objections to the relationship.

This person has no clue about what they're talking about. You can most certainly date, and yes, even have sex with a 17 year old in New York State if the girl is over 17 years of age because the age of consent in New York State is 17.

If people just assume laws, and don't take the time to actually look them up, then they just miss out. Just saying..
