How do you beat King Boo in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic winter games for WII?

Keep running from him until you can hit the ghost holding the hourglass. Then Boo will turn into a shadow. Dig him out of the ground and hit him until he grows back to his normal size. Repeat several times until he is defeated.
