Ax+By=C This is the standard form of a linear equation.

This can be rearranged to

By = -Ax + C

or further

y = (- A/B)x + C/B

Where '-A/B' is the slope/gradient and 'C/B' is a constant - the point where the line intersects the y-axis.

NB Curved lines have either 'x' or 'y' raised to a power/index.
