Most 16 year old girls like anything from makeup; clothing or jewelry. You could get her a gift certificate to her favorite store and go shopping with her when she's ready to go. You could get her earrings or a nice thin silver chain with a pendant on the end (something modern and just costume jewelry so it won't be so expensive for you to buy.) If you know the brands of makeup she uses then buy her what you can afford. If you have money saved up then perhaps you could give her a ticket to a concert she may want to see and you can go with her or better yet a soccer game.
