For smaller more delicate items, simply use a hose and brush with soapy water. # Leave the items outside, but not in direct sunlight to dry. Direct sunlight or faster drying can cause them to warp easily. # When the items are dry, coat them with a good spray primer. Choose a color of primer that most closely matches the final color you intend to use. Primer can usually be purchased in a variety of colors, but white, black, gray, and brown are the most common. # When the item is totally dry, spray paint it with the final color from a variety of angles. This is to make certain that all of the weaves are covered. A good quality oil based or epoxy paint are recommended for furniture pieces that will be used as furniture. It the item is more a decorative piece, you probably do not need to use epoxy paint, which can be more expensive. # Several coats may be necessary for full coverage, so make each coat as light as possible.
