Are you supposed to send out invitations to a baby shower to out of state family and friends that will not be able to travel?

That's always been a "sticky" one for me. We want the out of state family members to know what is happening and that we are thinking of them, yet we do not want them to feel that this is an invite to just receive a gift, as we know they will not be able to make it. I guess the best way to go about it would be to write a letter a month or so before, letting them know how the wedding plans are shaping up and make a note that a shower is being held and also note that you are sorry they cannot attend, wish they could be there and that you will be thinking of them. Also mak a note that you are looking forward to seeing them at the wedding, as most out of staters do make it to the wedding.

It's fine to invite out of state guests to bridal showers. Make sure they are invited to the wedding of course and be sure that you have enough room for them to actually attend the shower.
