What is the headline of a newspaper?

The 'headline' on a newspaper is usually on the front cover. In big letters, it may take up a whole half of the page or even more. Imagine this little drawing as a newspaper. You pick it up, it reads:

Headlines are used to attract peoples attention. You wouldn't pick up a paper that said, in tiny writing, "How grass reproduces" [XDD Just a random thing] would you? Headlines are big, and bold, and makes people want to read them.
