How can you tell if hes not interested?

If you know he is already shy why on earth don't you cut the poor guy some slack and ask him out! He may well like you a lot and even though you ask him out he'll be nervous so make it a little easier on him. I personally get no joy about making someone feel uncomfortable in a difficult situation.
