Pyrexia, or fever, is characterized by an elevated body temperature, typically above 100.4°F (38°C). Common symptoms include chills, sweating, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and loss of appetite. It may also be accompanied by other signs of infection or inflammation, such as redness, swelling, or localized pain. In severe cases, confusion or irritability may occur, especially in young children and the elderly.
