Form W-2 is Wage and Tax Statement. The IRS requires employers to provide/send them to employees by January 31st. If January 31st falls on a weekend, then the deadline is extended to the next business day. If you haven't received your W-2s for whatever reason by then, contact your employer.
If your employer hasn't cooperated in reissuing your W-2s by mid-February, then contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. The IRS will write to your employer requesting that the W-2s be provided to you. The IRS also will mail to you Form 4852(Substitute for Form W-2 or Form 1099-R). If your employer hasn't provided the W-2s by the time you need to file your return, then fill out Form 4852, attach it to your return and go ahead and file your return in that way.
