Why people constantly whistle?

People whistle constantly for a variety of reasons. For most people, they are usually expressing joy and happiness they feel and cannot or choose not to contain. A good thing! For others though, it can also be a sign that they are nervous, anxious or uncomfortable. It can help to relieve tension. Some who are self proclaimed whistlers have OCD type behaviors and say that whistling is a part of their routine. There are also people who wish they could whistle better and would whistle more often if they did it better. There are actual blogs dedicated to whistling.......how annoying it is to others! They claim whistlers do not realize how many hate the sound and how much it irritates people who are in listing range. The last category is saved for the majority of whistlers, which is that relates to music. People whistle along with a song or melody that is catchy or try making one up for fun. So the next time you hear someone whistling just remember is it most likely associated with positive feelings.
