What are the good points of polythene bags?

They are cheap to produce and are strong enough to hold a reasonable amount of weight.

the only downside is they are non-biodegradeable and can cause problems for the environment as well as animals.

usually things can be broken down by micro-organisms, polythene bags cannot.
