Not everyone will have the same perceptions, and not everyone will express them the same way. While some people trust the media, people who have actually had to deal with them seem to have another opinion.
- The media is biased. Not only do the different broadcast entities have managers who are biased, the reporters are also biased.
- The media gets it wrong. Even simple stories are mis-reported. If a young woman is injured in an automobile crash and dies later, the one media outlet may report it correctly and another may claim that she was "treated and released".
- The media refused to report significant facts, especially whether an offender is an "illegal immigrant". Instead, we often don't even get a name, and the media will only report that an offender was "apprehended".
While others may believe that the media is "fair and balanced", most will agree that when reading or watching the news, it's important to "read between the lines", and try to filter out the media agenda.
