Why should people care about abortions?

Because regardless of when it is illegal or not women are having it done and are desperate enough to risk their lives. The only way to keep them safe is to provide safe and legal providers. Some say "think about the babies" but only the woman suffers a unwanted pregnancy and abortion. Most already have children when having their abortion so we know that financially we can help because many choose abortion because of poverty. Many yell "ADOPTION" but unless you know what it is like to give a child of your own away you can not really expect someone else to do it. Abortion early in pregnancy is nothing like giving your baby away.
