Wolverine (Mustilidae gulo gulo) have a very specific habitat requirement and snow is paramount to their reproduction and survival. Habitat degradation and fragmentation and exploitation (hunting, trapping, poisoning) are the primary causes for wolverine population declines; however, they are currently listed by the IUCN as "least concern" (an improvement from their 2008 "vulnerable" listing).
