Can i replace the original flat square shape air filter on my 2000 Nissan quest with a K N coned shape filter?

if it fits, make sure no air with dirt can by-pass filtration...a teaspoon of dirt down the intake is like 100,000 miles of wear on the rings..have fun: also everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the local library should have a SHOP manual available in the reference section--make copies of the right info and read up..you'll be a pro in no time ...good luck:)
