Who is Matthew Wood in Witch of Blackbird Pond?

Matthew Wood is the uncle of Kit Tyler in the Witch of Blackbird Pond. He is one of the town's (Wethersfield) selectman and is the husband of Rachel Wood. Matthew is the father of Judith Wood and Mercy Wood. He is one of the main characters in the story and can be very strict at times. Matthew Wood is against the King of England in the story.
