What goes up a chimney but can't come down a chimney?

The answer to this riddle is "smoke." Smoke rises up a chimney as it is expelled from a fire, but it cannot come back down the chimney in the same form. Once it ascends, it disperses into the air and cannot descend as a solid or liquid.
