If she was a mother she had to take care of the children. She had to support herself and her family, if applicable. She had to watch out for bombs and keep self and family safe, if applicable. She had to find a job in the tough economy of Japan. After the US embargoed Japan, she must have found new ways to substitute oil and use rations for oil.
