Why can't tidal energy be used everywhere?

The limitation of tidal energy is that it works only twice a day. This is because it is caused by the gravitational pull of the of the moon and sun.

Another limitation is that, for it to be economical, it needs a large bay or river mouth with a narrow opening to the sea, so that the speed of the water can be harnessed. Suitable areas are not common round the world.
