Can you warp time and space to travel faster?

Theoretically it is possible, space consists of 2 layers normal space and sub-space, when a ship travels faster than light a warp field or energy field creates a bubble around the vessel pushing it into subspace therefore folding normal space around the vessel enabling faster than light travel.
