Where is phosphorylase found?

Phosphorylase is primarily found in muscle and liver tissues. In muscles, it plays a key role in glycogenolysis, breaking down glycogen into glucose-1-phosphate for energy during exercise. In the liver, it helps maintain blood glucose levels by facilitating glycogen breakdown when needed. There are two main forms of phosphorylase: muscle phosphorylase (phosphorylase a and b) and liver phosphorylase, each regulated differently based on the tissue's metabolic needs.
