Propylene Glycol, the red stuff. Dexcool is one brand name of it. Not Ethelyne Glycol The green antifreeze/coolant. Use 50/50 mix of Propylene Glycol and distilled water or buy pre diluted. A 50/50 ratio has a freeze point of -30F. Some people choose to use a higher ratio of anti~freeze to water in winter, like 70/30 if you live someplace where it gets very cold, but it's really not necessary. (Note: the chart of information on a jug at the auto parts store may differ from that figure about "Protection down to...." I got that figure of the 50/50 ratio of PG having a freeze point of -30ºF from the Dow Chemical website). Never run straight undiluted antifreeze, be it PG or EG, the water is necessary to absorb the heat from engine block and dissipate heat better. Also, Ethelyne Glycol, the green stuff, will perform just fine in your Corolla but is far more toxic, just plain more safe in the event of a leak or spill than PG..... EG is 'attractive' to animals. It tastes good to them, and PG does not, PG is better for the environment all around and has equal protection performance properties.
