Is the calf sedated for calf roping?

I have never heard of such, the object is to chase the calf. As quickly as possible, stop the calf, then rope three holves together. Sedating the calf would be cheating both the rider and the judging. Drugging any animal for performance purposes during a competition is wrong and wouldn't be allowed, if known about.
