About a Boy named John Egbert and a game called SBURB that he plays
with three of his internet friends (Rose Lalonde, Dave Strider, and
Jade Harley). The comic starts on John's 13th birthday while he is
awaiting his copy of SBURB. Once it arrives (after battling his
father and the horrors of Betty Crocker) he connects with Rose.
After messing around with various complex doodads, the two manage
to create the Kernelsprite, which, after two steps of prototyping,
becomes a wise guide. First the Kernelsprite was prototyped with a
large harlequin, and then with the ashes of John's Nanna, creating
Nannasprite.
Wow, I'm sorry, I can't do this. All I can say is read and
discover.

Here is an excerpt from a fan's summary of Homestuck (it is accurate and sounds amazing):
"... There's a game older than time itself. This game presents itself when a dimension is matured. When the game comes, the [apocalypse] comes too, and only a select few young people survive. Every. Single. Time. For purposes of reproduction, most likely.
The game forces the survivors to do quests on their own planets, meet up with [each other], turn into [superhero-esque] people, and beat the game.
The game is beat when all the survivors re-meet on their now [apocalypsed] home planet, and defeat the kings and queens of both the black and white armies. Literally, a massive Chess game.
The prize for winning the game is becoming the Gods for the new dimension that is born.
OK, so that's the lore. Haha
The story revolves around 4 humans.
... And that's all I'm going to tell you."
