Why isn't alcohol illegal?

Because when most people drink alcohol, they aren't necessarily trying to get drunk and can exercise self-control and moderation. It is the group of people who cause DUI crashes and have addictions that give alcohol a bad name.

Many people also get angry that while drugs are illegal, alcohol is legal. But, the answer is simple really. When a person does drugs, they expect or want a high, but someone who drinks alcohol isn't necessarily doing it to get drunk, which I would compare to the high of drugs.
