This is the body's ventilation system. The respiratory system brings oxygen into the lungs and eliminates carbon dioxide. Each cell in our body needs oxygen. The process of supplying the cells with oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from them is called respiration.

The respiration system consists of :

The nose and nasal Cavity

The Pharynx (the throat)

The Larynx (the voice box)

The Trachea (the wind pipe)

The Bronchi (tubes or airways which leads into the lungs)

The Lungs (made up of air sacs called alveoli)

Pleura (a double protective membrane around the lungs)
