Why does vulcan 1500 backfire?

it could be several different things, carb, air leaks in exaust normaly at head where pipe enters, there is a crush ring could be air entering at eps lines there is also a rubber gasket type flap at left side of carb that could be bad, good luck, I,m still tracking down my cause
