Naples is visited by millions of tourists - it has so many attractions around it, the bay of Naples, and of course Pompeii and Herculaneum nearby. However, Naples does have high unemployment (almost 11 percent) and a bad reputation for organised crime, with the associated violence. Many tourists visit there without any problems, but there are also a lot of Horror stories of violence, credit card fraud and robberies. There are certain touristy areas, such as the Plaza Garibaldi, that have a history of robbery, so don't wear conspicuous jewelry, flash your mobile phone or cash around, and be careful of pickpockets - in general be very careful at night in the centre. Use your credit card with care (it can be cloned), keep a close watch on your bag and wallet and don't wear a big Rolex (they're a common target for thieves, and some tourists have reported being held up at gunpoint for their Rolex). Millions of people visit without problems, and enjoy attractions that are the most special places in the world, but Naples does have a bad reputation compared to the rest of Italy, so search on google to find out advice from those who've been there. It's a very special place, but not one without problems.
