Can you hear the train coming when you are standing on the track?

Yes you can hear a train coming standing in the vicinity of the tracks. You should never stand on or between the rails. Unless you are crossing the train tracks at an authorized crossing you should stay away from the outside of the nearest rail by at least 10 to 15 feet minimum. If you are at a station you should stand on the outside of the yellow line.
