What is the outstanding geographical feature of the chaparral?

The terrain of the chaparral is rough and rocky. There are a limited amount of tall trees and those there are don't provide much shade. Most vegetation is low growing with a lot of shrubs. During the dry season there is very little moisture available. Some of California has this type of biome.
