What does specilized mean science?

Specialized means to have adaptations that allow a person, plant or animal to be able to cope with specific food, temperatures, availability of water etc. Thus polar bears warm fur, what colour and swimming ability lets them live in the arctic, tibetans and Andean natives have more red blood cells to live in thinner air and similar.
