What are blood pallets?

Blood platelets, or thrombocytes, are small, colorless cell fragments in the blood that play a crucial role in hemostasis, the process of blood clotting. They are produced in the bone marrow from larger cells called megakaryocytes. When a blood vessel is injured, platelets quickly gather at the site, adhere to the damaged area, and aggregate to form a temporary plug, helping to prevent excessive bleeding.
