To prevent flood waters entering your property you need to provide temporary seals/protection at all potential water entry points, such as front and back doors, but also remember the airbricks as well. As well as the traditional sandbag approach, there are many products around that can be used, from simple DIY to more elaborate ones.

Remember that a major problem, as well as water flooding, can be flooding from sewerage systems, you are advised to fit non-return valves in the sewerage system which can be difficult and expensive, or there is something called a 'Bog Bladder' which stops sewerage coming in from the toilet.
