How is hepatobiliary tree ultrasound done?

HBT should be done with a good bowel preparation of the patient and fasting for atleast 8hrs. A water base-gel is apply to the to patient body to improve the transmission of sound beam, because without gel the air from the environment can easily detect by the transducer causing the transducer present some noise in the image. Air is the biggest enemy in ultrasound. Several pictures will be take to observe the liver, gallbladder and biliary tract.
