When typing a letter should numbers greater than ten be typed out or should the number itself be entered?

The generally accepted convention is this: numbers lower than ten, including ten, are written out: one, two and so forth. Numbers higher than ten can be written numerically: 11, 12 and so forth.

Except when a number starts or ends a sentence, in which case it is easier to read written out at the beginning of a sentence, and may be easier to read when written at the end.


Be aware, however, that some style guides indicate that all numbers are to be spelled out.
