Foreshadowing in 'Of Mice and Men'?

An example of foreshadowing in the novel is when Carlson shoots Candy's dog in the back of the head so that it will not feel any pain but it doesn't have to suffer life any more, as the dog is very weak and ill. This foreshadows the end of the novel where George shoots his best friend Lennie in the same place to prevent him from feeling any pain and to prevent Curley and the other ranch workers killing him in a more violent way.
