Can you use JB Weld to stop an oil leak?

I used it on the ruptured seam of a motorbike petrol tank a few years and its still holding. I dare say it'd work just as well if both surfaces are cleaned first.

I used it to stop a leak in the transfer case to drive shaft on a 92 Eagle Talon.
