Diamond is an allotrope of carbon . Where any one carbon is tetrahedrally combined with four adjacent carbons.

Quartz, is an impoure form of SiO2 ( Silicon dioxide). The molecules are in a crystalline lattice, and in that lattice arranged very similar to carbon(diamond).
