What is the purpose of a computer desk armoire?

A computer desk armoire is a convenient way of storing computer accessories and peripherals, for example a printer, in a cabinet below the desk which is also sometimes lockable. Besides having a practical use it also hides the sometimes unsightly objects that are commonly found around a computer desk.
